Writer/Director

Raised in regional Victoria, Milla grew up a train and two bus rides away from all of her school friends and their lives. Stuck living in a town full of people she didn’t know, and travelling to another filled with people she was always an inch away from properly knowing, Milla stumbled her way into film through home movies and Riverdale fancams she made to occupy the time alone.

A current Victorian College of the Arts Film and Television student, Milla is an emerging filmmaker interested in stories of desperate characters scratching for moments of closeness with the world. Her films explore the gaps between people and the tragic irony befalling their attempts to remedy this chronic aloneness.

Honest, gentle and quick-witted, Milla’s films tiptoe the dark comedy/drama scope, with a special interest in exploring selfish and lonely female protagonists through a tender lens.
